Itanagar, Feb 26: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that the Trans-Arunachal Highway, designed to connect all 26 district headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh, is close to completion.
Speaking at a program celebrating Nyokum Yullo, a festival of the Nyishi tribe, in Boasimla, Kamle district, Rijiju highlighted the project's significance in boosting accessibility and development across the state. The event was also graced by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
“The Trans-Arunachal Highway, now in its final stages, will provide seamless connectivity across the state, ensuring better accessibility and contributing to overall development,” Rijiju stated.
Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to Arunachal Pradesh, the minister also pointed to the Frontier Highway project, which has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹42,000 crore. He described it as a landmark initiative, being the first of its kind on such a massive scale in India.
Last week, Rijiju emphasized that the Arunachal Frontier Highway, connecting 12 districts along the India-China border, would be a “game changer” for the region, significantly improving connectivity in remote border areas. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for driving the project forward.
Speaking about Vice President Dhankhar’s presence at Boasimla, Rijiju remarked that it was a historic moment for the small town located along the national highway.
“The visit of the second-highest constitutional authority to Boasimla is a matter of great pride for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. His presence adds immense significance to our Nyokum Yullo celebrations,” he added.
He further stated that the Centre’s continuous focus on Arunachal Pradesh would not only enhance infrastructure and connectivity but also elevate the state’s cultural prominence on a national level.
