Himachal Governor Slams Pakistan for Promoting Terrorism, Urges Unity at Inter-Faith Meet
Shimla, May 10 – Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Saturday accused Pakistan of consistently promoting terrorism and enabling extremist ideologies, calling upon all communities in India to stand united against divisive forces.Chairing an inter-faith harmony meeting in Shimla, the governor strongly condemned Pakistan’s actions, particularly its alleged endorsement of terrorism at the state level. “Pakistan has always harboured and promoted terrorism. Its Army attends funerals of terrorists and its ministers endorse extremist activities irresponsibly,” said Shukla.
He further criticised Pakistan’s recent cross-border attacks, noting the grave violations that targeted civilian areas, including religious sites like temples and gurudwaras. He emphasised that such actions reflect Pakistan’s continued disregard for international norms and human values.
Call for Collective Vigilance and National Unity
Governor Shukla urged religious leaders and communities to collectively denounce Pakistan’s “divisive propaganda” and called for greater public vigilance, especially against misinformation spreading through social media platforms.“No force can weaken the unity and integrity of India,” he said, stressing the need to bolster public awareness through united and proactive efforts from all sections of society.
The event was attended by representatives from various religious communities as well as Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
CM Sukhu Highlights Cultural Resilience
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sukhu reaffirmed the state’s commitment to unity and national integrity. He stated that India’s cultural heritage, rooted in religious diversity and mutual respect, has always served as a source of national strength.“Whenever the country or its cultural values are threatened, Indians have never hesitated to sacrifice for the nation,” Sukhu remarked, underscoring the historical resilience of the Indian people in the face of external threats.
The inter-faith meeting was convened with the aim of reinforcing social harmony and solidarity amid heightened tensions in the region.
