Drone Ban Imposed in Una and Kullu Districts Following Missile Debris Recovery

Shimla, May 10 – The administrations of Una and Kullu districts in Himachal Pradesh have enforced an immediate and indefinite ban on the use of civilian drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), citing heightened security concerns.

District Magistrate and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Jatin Lal, ordered the complete prohibition in Una, which also includes a ban on firecracker usage. The precautionary step comes after the recovery of suspicious metal debris, believed to resemble parts of a missile, near the Chintpurni temple.

Officials said the move is aimed at averting the spread of rumours and preventing panic that could arise from misinterpreting drone noises or explosive-like sounds during a sensitive period of national tension.

The Kullu district administration has mirrored the decision and warned that any violations of the drone ban will be met with strict action.

Adding to the concerns, drone wreckage and missile-like metal fragments were also found in two separate locations in the Indora area of Kangra district, close to Pathankot and the Punjab border.

In response to the developing situation, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu convened a high-level meeting with senior officials to assess the state’s preparedness amid the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict. The meeting took place just prior to the announcement of a ceasefire between the two nations.

Authorities remain on high alert, with continued monitoring and restrictions expected to stay in place until further notice.
