Himachal Pradesh CM Launches ‘Mere Shahar Ke 100 Ratna’ Programme for Free Competitive Exam Coaching

Shimla, March 1 – Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday introduced the ‘Mere Shahar Ke 100 Ratna’ initiative, a state-wide program designed to provide free coaching for competitive exams to 6,800 students across Himachal Pradesh.

Under this scheme, CRACK Academy will extend free coaching to 100 meritorious students from each Assembly constituency, with a total investment of ₹34 crore.

Selection Process and Benefits​

The selection process will be conducted through tests in schools and colleges across all constituencies, with eligibility starting from Class VI and above.

• Top 100 students from each constituency will receive free coaching.
• Next 200 students will be granted a 75% concession.
• Following 500 students will avail a 50% concession.

CRACK Academy has committed to mentoring students until they achieve their academic and career goals.

Government Support and Implementation​

The state government will fully support CRACK Academy in executing the initiative. While the Academy will be responsible for preparing the test papers, the Education Department will supervise the examination process.

To maximize awareness, the CM launched a mega awareness campaign to inform students and parents about this opportunity.

Pilot Project Success & Future Expansion​

The programme was initially piloted in Jawalamukhi Assembly constituency of Kangra district, where students from 50 schools participated. Currently, 220 selected students from Jawalamukhi are undergoing merit-based coaching under this scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sukhu highlighted that beyond empowering students, the initiative will also boost employment opportunities in the state. CRACK Academy plans to set up over 90 coaching centers, generating direct employment for 5,000 people and creating additional indirect employment opportunities.

Investment in Library Infrastructure​

Additionally, ₹1.5 crore will be allocated for the renovation and maintenance of the library at Ridge, Shimla. The CM directed the Academy to preserve the heritage of the building while incorporating modern technology to enhance learning facilities.

This initiative is expected to revolutionize competitive exam preparation in Himachal Pradesh, making quality coaching accessible to talented students from across the state.
