Shimla, Feb 28: The Himachal Pradesh government has initiated the process of transferring officials who have been holding sensitive positions for extended periods, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Friday. Emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Sukhu stated that the move aims to enhance governance efficiency across various departments.
Presiding over a meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed departments to commence preparations for the transfer process. Additionally, he instructed the Industries Department to integrate the Himachal Pradesh Forest Development Corporation into the auctioning process for mining leases, aiming to streamline and improve resource management.
The government is also working on new regulations for utilizing funds from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT). Sukhu highlighted that the revised rules will focus on channeling funds toward the welfare of economically disadvantaged communities.
Addressing the state's mining revenue, the Chief Minister noted a significant improvement under the current administration. He stated that during the BJP-led government’s tenure two years ago, revenue from mining stood at ₹240 crore. However, under the present government's policies, this figure increased to ₹314 crore in the last financial year and is projected to rise further to ₹360 crore by the end of the current financial year.
Sukhu also underscored the state’s commitment to promoting green industries and attracting investments across key sectors such as tourism, hydropower, food processing, data storage, and dairy. These initiatives, he said, are crucial to driving sustainable economic growth in Himachal Pradesh.
