Barasat, Feb 27 – In a tragic incident, two women lost their lives after being hit by a speeding express train while crossing the tracks at Sodepur railway station in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday night.
According to a Government Railway Police (GRP) official, the accident occurred around 10 PM when the two women were struck by the Hatey Bazare Express. The impact led to one of the victims falling beside the tracks, while the other got entangled in the train’s cowcatcher. Her body was later retrieved at Naihati station, the train’s first scheduled stop after departing from Sealdah.
One of the deceased has been identified as Koel Roy, while the identity of the second victim remains unknown. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
