Shimla, Feb 3 (PTI): In a significant move, members of the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services (HPAS) have voluntarily decided to relinquish their power subsidy. The officers submitted their applications to opt out of the subsidy during an annual function held on Monday, as per an official statement.
Presiding over the event, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening administrative services and implementing crucial reforms to enhance governance efficiency.
Acknowledging the vital role of HPAS officers, especially in remote areas, Sukhu emphasized their contribution to executing government policies and ensuring that state welfare programs reach their intended beneficiaries. He lauded them as the "backbone of the administration" and urged them to play a proactive role in decision-making for the welfare and development of Himachal Pradesh.
Outlining his vision, the Chief Minister stated that the government is working towards making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by 2027 and the most prosperous state in India by 2032. Despite economic, political, and natural challenges, the administration remains steadfast in its commitment to progress. He also highlighted key focus areas, including hydropower, tourism, food processing, data storage, agriculture, and horticulture, as part of the state's developmental roadmap.
To address the concerns of HPAS officers, Sukhu assured that a high-level state meeting would soon be convened to discuss and resolve their issues.
During the event, the Chief Minister also unveiled the new logo, flag, and souvenir of the HPAS Officers Association, marking a symbolic step towards reinforcing the identity of the administrative cadre.
