Police Nab Two in Cocaine Seizure Near City Restaurant
Hyderabad, May 10 — In a significant drug bust, Hyderabad police apprehended a 34-year-old woman doctor and a male delivery agent after seizing 53 grams of cocaine from their possession, officials confirmed on Saturday.Acting on a tip-off, a team from Raidurgam police station caught the duo red-handed on May 8 near a restaurant in the city. The seizure occurred when the delivery agent was handing over a packet of cocaine to the doctor inside her car.
Initial investigation revealed that the woman had ordered the narcotic from a Mumbai-based supplier. She reportedly paid ₹5 lakh for the consignment on May 4. According to police, the doctor was a regular user and had been sourcing drugs from the same supplier.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the supplier and any broader network linked to the transaction.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking and consumption in the city, especially among professionals and youth.
