Massive Blaze Engulfs Building in Gulzar House Early Morning
Hyderabad, May 18 — A devastating fire broke out early Sunday morning at a residential building in Gulzar House, near the iconic Charminar, claiming the lives of eight people, including two young children aged two and seven. The tragic incident unfolded around 6:30 am, prompting an urgent response from the fire department and local authorities.According to hospital officials at Yashoda Hospital, Malakpet, all eight victims were declared brought dead. Among the deceased were four women and two children. Several others were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities Respond Swiftly as Rescue Operations Continue
The Fire Department confirmed receiving the emergency call around 6:30 am and dispatching teams immediately. Many residents were found unconscious at the scene and were promptly transported to various hospitals across the city.Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who visited the site, acknowledged that police had reported eight deaths but emphasized that official confirmation from law enforcement was still pending. "Some children are among the dead," he noted grimly.
Transport and Hyderabad District In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar also visited the location and attributed the cause of the fire to a short circuit. He revealed that 17 people living in the building were rescued and taken to hospitals. "There were reports that a majority of them died. There was loss of life. We will order an inquiry into the fire accident. There is no conspiracy angle in it," he added. The building reportedly housed four families, all related to one another.
Government Issues Directives for Immediate Relief
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the incident and instructed senior officials to ensure swift rescue and relief measures. The Chief Minister’s Office released a statement directing authorities to provide immediate medical attention to the injured and coordinate with hospitals for their care.An AIMIM legislator present at the site told reporters that preliminary reports indicated around 20 individuals had been taken to hospitals.
The state government has assured a thorough investigation into the incident and emphasized the need to verify the exact number of casualties. The community remains in shock as authorities continue their inquiry into the cause and circumstances surrounding the blaze.
