Ilam in east Nepal hit by earthquake.webp

Kathmandu, February 7 A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Ilam district in eastern Nepal's Koshi province on Saturday.
The epicenter of the earthquake, recorded at 6:50 pm, was located in the Nayabazar area of the Ilam district, approximately 450 km east of Kathmandu, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre (NEMRC).
However, there were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties from the tremor, officials said.
The tremor was also felt by people living in neighboring districts, including Panchtha, Tehrathum, and Taplejung.
Nepal, which experiences multiple earthquakes each year, lies in one of the most active tectonic zones (Seismic Zones IV and V), making this Himalayan nation extremely vulnerable to earthquakes.
