New Delhi, Feb 27 – Celebrated filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is set to collaborate with Netflix once again for his upcoming romantic drama series, "O Saathi Re", featuring Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles.
Described as an "evocative exploration of the vintage feeling of love in contemporary times," the series is created by Ali, known for his acclaimed works like Rockstar, Tamasha, and Jab We Met. His previous projects with Netflix include the crime series "She" and the critically lauded "Amar Singh Chamkila".
The series will be directed by Arif Ali, who also helmed She, while Imtiaz Ali will take on multiple roles as the writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
A Modern Story with a Vintage Heart
Imtiaz Ali expressed his excitement about the project, calling it a "modern story with a vintage heart, an enchanted fairy tale set in the fiasco of metropolitan life." He emphasized his trust in Arif Ali’s direction and praised the cast, stating, "It is the ever-strengthening relationship with Netflix that enabled us to enter the deceptively charming world of 'O Saathi Re'."The series will mark a reunion for Ali and Hydari, who previously collaborated on Rockstar. Avinash Tiwary, known for his performance in Laila Majnu, another Imtiaz Ali production, will also be part of the ensemble.
A Poetic Take on Love and Relationships
Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, shared insights into the show’s thematic depth, revealing that the project was inspired by an inherent musicality. She noted, "We wanted something with an inherent musicality, perhaps inspired by a song, and then Imtiaz crafted a story, called it 'O Saathi Re'—a fresh and innovative take on relationships in contemporary times."The series is backed by Window Seat Films and Reliance Entertainment, with Amogh Kanaskar serving as co-writer. The creative production team includes Nidhi Sethia, while Vishal Bajaj, Pratik Nandkumar, and Mohit Choudhary join as executive producers.
Production for "O Saathi Re" is set to commence soon, promising a visually rich and emotionally profound narrative of love, dilemmas, and modern relationships.
