New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has been enriched with new attractions, including an 'Incredible India' pavilion, a luxurious tent city, and a thematic cultural village to celebrate India's rich heritage. These initiatives have been introduced by the Ministry of Tourism, the government informed Parliament on Monday.
Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in a written response, stated that the ministry has established the 'Incredible India' pavilion within the Mela grounds to engage tourists, media personnel, and influencers. The pavilion serves as an information hub offering details about the Maha Kumbh, including travel and accommodation options.
Additionally, new digital creatives and a brochure detailing tour packages, flight routes, and lodging facilities for Maha Kumbh have been launched and circulated. A dedicated tourist helpline (1800111363) has also been introduced to assist visitors.
Cultural and Accommodation Enhancements
The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has developed an 80-unit luxury tent city in Prayagraj to provide high-end accommodation to pilgrims and tourists.Further enhancing the festival’s cultural vibrancy, the Ministry of Culture has established a cultural village—'Kalagram' through the North Central Zone Cultural Centre. This village features:
- ‘Anubhut Mandapam’, a space for immersive cultural experiences
- Live performances by artists
- A dedicated food zone
- Displays and sales of traditional Indian handicrafts and handlooms
Enhanced Train Services for Devotees
To accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims, the Ministry of Railways has introduced 16 special train services, including the Jabalpur-Bargawan Kumbh Mela Special (05609/05610), on the Beohari-Katni sector. Additionally, 176 trains (including 32 special trains) are running on the Katni-Prayagraj sector to facilitate seamless travel.Maha Kumbh 2025: A Grand Spiritual Gathering
The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13, will conclude on February 26. The grand religious event witnessed its third sacred bath, ‘Amrit Snan’, on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami on Monday.Promotional efforts for the Maha Kumbh are being actively carried out through social media campaigns led by the Ministry of Tourism, ensuring global outreach and engagement.
With these cultural, infrastructural, and travel enhancements, the Maha Kumbh 2025 aims to provide an unforgettable experience to millions of devotees and tourists.
