India A Women Win Asia Cup Victory Over Pakistan.webp

Bangkok, February 15 Radha Yadav, as captain, led a strong spin performance, while Dinesh Vrinda smashed a brilliant half-century, as India A Women secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Pakistan A Women in the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament here on Sunday.

This victory marked India A's first win of the tournament after their seven-wicket defeat to United Arab Emirates A Women in the opening match on Friday.

The win propelled India A to second place in Group A, behind the UAE.

India's spinners effectively stifled Pakistan with relentless accuracy, taking five wickets between them to dismiss their opponents for a modest 93 in 18.5 overs.

Radha (2/11 in 3 overs) spearheaded the attack with two crucial wickets, while Prema Rawat (2/16 in 3 overs) and Minnu Mani (1/10 in 2.5 overs) ensured that Pakistan never formed any significant partnerships.

Pacer Saima Thakor bowled exceptionally, claiming two wickets while conceding only 14 runs in her four overs.

Chasing a modest target of 94, India suffered an early setback when Humaira Kazi was dismissed off the very first ball, but Vrinda quickly turned the game around with a stunning counter-attack.

She smashed an unbeaten 55 off just 29 deliveries, hitting the boundary 12 times to put India firmly in control.

Vrinda received solid support from Anushka Sharma, who scored a composed 24 off 26 balls. The pair put together a match-defining 78-run partnership, giving India a comfortable lead in the chase.

After Anushka's dismissal, Tejal Hasabnis provided the finishing touches with a brisk 12 off five balls, as India completed the chase in just 10.1 overs, with 59 balls to spare.
