India and Pakistan Agree to 'Full and Immediate' Ceasefire After US Mediation: Trump

Trump claims India, Pak agree on ceasefire; no confirmation from either country.webp

Washington, May 10 — Former US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a "full and immediate ceasefire" following a night of intense diplomatic negotiations mediated by the United States.

Trump made the announcement via a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” he wrote.

While the statement has drawn global attention, there has been no immediate confirmation from either the Indian or Pakistani governments at the time of this report.

The declaration came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly held high-level conversations with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir. Rubio also posted a similar statement on X, further reinforcing the message shared by Trump.

The ceasefire announcement comes amid heightened tensions and military confrontations between the two South Asian neighbors. The US has positioned this diplomatic development as a significant de-escalation in the region.
