New Delhi, May 17 — Hockey India unveiled the 24-member Indian junior women’s hockey team that will compete in the upcoming Four Nations Tournament in Rosario, Argentina, from May 25 to June 2. Goalkeeper Nidhi has been appointed team captain, with forward Hina Bano named vice-captain.
Tournament to Aid World Cup Preparations
India will face hosts Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile in the tournament, which serves as a critical preparatory platform ahead of the Junior World Cup scheduled for December. The team will play two matches against each of the participating nations to fine-tune strategies and assess player combinations.“We are looking to identify our best players from this squad, especially with the Junior World Cup just six months away,” said Tushar Khandker, coach of the Indian junior women’s team. “This tour will provide valuable international exposure and experience. In the long term, we are also preparing them for a smooth transition to the senior team, and that begins with strong performances in tournaments like these.”
