India is determined to emerge as a prominent global food hub, but achieving this goal requires domestic food manufacturers to adhere strictly to international quality standards, emphasized Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan.
Paswan made these remarks during the inauguration of the 39th edition of the AAHAR International Food and Hospitality Fair on Tuesday in New Delhi. The event, being hosted at the Bharat Mandapam, is scheduled from March 4 to March 8, 2025. It is jointly organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, showcasing an extensive range of products, services, and innovative food processing technologies.
Minister Urges Uncompromising Quality
Highlighting the importance of producing high-quality food products, Paswan stated, "Focus on manufacturing quality food products. Our products should be at par with global standards. We should not compromise on quality. No country should point out at India with regard to quality."The minister further emphasized the government’s active role in developing infrastructure and fostering both small and large enterprises to strengthen the food processing sector. These measures are intended to significantly reduce post-harvest losses, a critical issue affecting India's agricultural productivity.
Leveraging International Expertise at AAHAR 2025
This year's edition of the AAHAR fair has attracted participants from 22 countries, offering Indian businesses an opportunity to gain valuable insights into international trends, technological advancements, and innovative solutions within the food and hospitality sectors.Minister Paswan specifically encouraged domestic companies to capitalize on this international participation, urging them to learn from the best global practices and innovations exhibited during the fair.
With India placing significant emphasis on food processing as part of its economic strategy, this year's AAHAR event is expected to foster meaningful collaborations and enhance the competitiveness of Indian products globally.
