New Delhi, February 14 Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi will undertake a four-day visit to Australia, starting Monday, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral defense ties and jointly contribute to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
The defense ministry said that the Army Chief will hold extensive interactions with senior leadership of the Australian defense forces, with a particular focus on enhancing engagement between the armies, including training and joint exercises.
The visit aims to further strengthen India-Australia defense cooperation and reinforce the growing convergence between the two nations.
"The visit reaffirms the shared commitment of both nations to further enhancing defense cooperation and jointly contributing to peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific region," the statement said.
In Canberra, General Dwivedi will meet Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, the Chief of the Australian Army.
Lieutenant General Stuart and General Dwivedi are alumni of the US Army War College's 'Class of 2015' and share a strong professional bond, according to the ministry.
The talks between the two military officials will be followed by a comprehensive round table discussion at the Australian Defense Forces Headquarters, focusing on aspects of defense cooperation, modernization, and futuristic operations.
General Dwivedi will also address the officers at the Australian Command and Staff College.
From Canberra, General Dwivedi will travel to Sydney, where he will meet senior officials of Australia's Forces Command (FORCOMD) and the Special Operations Command (SOCOMD).
