India Eye Title Glory in ODI Tri-Series Final Against Sri Lanka in Colombo

Colombo, May 10 – A high-stakes finale awaits in Colombo on Sunday as India take on hosts Sri Lanka in the summit clash of the Women’s ODI tri-series. Buoyed by a dominant performance in the league stage, India will rely heavily on their in-form batting line-up to overcome a spirited Sri Lankan side and clinch the title — a vital momentum booster ahead of the ODI World Cup later this year.

India Ride High on Batting Firepower

Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India topped the points table with three wins out of four matches, their only loss coming against Sri Lanka. A win in the final would not only avenge that defeat but also underline their consistency ahead of a crucial global season.

Jemimah Rodrigues has been the batting mainstay, amassing 201 runs at a stellar average of 67, highlighted by a match-winning 123 against South Africa. Supporting her at the top, Pratika Rawal (164 runs), Smriti Mandhana (148), and Deepti Sharma (126) have all contributed significantly, showcasing the batting depth in India’s ranks.

Deepti's 93 against South Africa also underscored the lower-order resilience, a quality that could prove decisive in the final.

While skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is yet to notch up a big score, her recent knocks — 41*, 30, and 28 — indicate a return to form is imminent, adding further weight to India’s batting arsenal.

Sneh Rana and Indian Bowlers Deliver Impact

On the bowling front, Sneh Rana has been the standout performer of the series with 11 wickets, including a fiery five-wicket haul against South Africa. With support from all-rounders like Deepti Sharma and Kashvee Gautam, India’s bowling attack has looked sharp and balanced.

Sri Lanka Bank on Samarawickrama’s Consistency

Sri Lanka, finishing second in the standings with two wins, will draw confidence from their earlier victory against India. Harshitha Samarawickrama, with 177 runs including two fifties, has led their batting charge. Her memorable 69* against India in the 2023 T20 Asia Cup final remains fresh in memory and could serve as added inspiration.

Captain Chamari Athapaththu’s all-round contributions — 88 runs and five wickets — have been modest so far, but her potential impact in a high-pressure final cannot be overlooked.

Among the bowlers, Dewmi Vihanga has picked up nine wickets in the tournament. While Indian batters have handled her well previously, she remains a key threat in home conditions.

Final Showdown: All to Play For

With the match set to begin at 10:00 AM IST, both teams will see this final as more than just a series decider — it’s a stepping stone toward the ODI World Cup. India’s consistency and batting firepower make them favourites, but Sri Lanka’s fighting spirit and home advantage keep the contest wide open.
