New Delhi, Feb 28: Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, met with Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi on Friday to explore opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two nations in agriculture and allied sectors.
The meeting primarily focused on the upcoming visit of Israel’s Agriculture and Food Security Minister and reviewed the impact of Centers of Excellence (CoEs) operating across 20 Indian states. These centers, established under Indo-Israel collaboration, play a crucial role in improving productivity, precision irrigation, post-harvest management, and addressing market access challenges.
Chaturvedi emphasized India’s vision for recycling sewage water for agricultural use, aligning with the government’s broader efforts towards sustainable farming. He also raised concerns related to trade policies and grain storage infrastructure.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in agricultural innovation, advanced farming technologies, and the horticulture sector.
The Israeli delegation included Fares Saeb, Deputy Chief of Mission, while senior officials from India's Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare represented the Indian side.
The discussions set the stage for further bilateral engagements, strengthening Indo-Israel cooperation in sustainable and technologically driven agriculture.
