Male, Feb 3 (PTI) – The 13th edition of the joint military exercise ‘Ekuverin’ between the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has officially commenced in the Maldives, officials confirmed.
The bilateral exercise, named ‘Ekuverin,’ meaning "Friends" in the Dhivehi language, is an annual training event conducted alternately in India and the Maldives. In 2023, the exercise took place in Chaubatia, Uttarakhand, from June 11 to 24.
Opening Ceremony and Key Attendees
The opening ceremony of the two-week-long military drill was held at the MNDF Composite Training Centre in Maafilafushi on Sunday. The High Commission of India in the Maldives shared updates about the event on social media platform X, highlighting the participation of senior officials.Among the distinguished attendees were Maldives National Defence Force Chief Major General Ibrahim Hilmy and Indian High Commissioner G Balasubramanian. The High Commission also shared photographs from the inaugural event.
