Understanding Reached Following India's Operation Sindoor Targeting Terror Camps
New Delhi, May 10 – India and Pakistan have reached an understanding to cease all firing and military action, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on Saturday, signaling a potential easing of heightened tensions in the region. The development comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, during which Indian forces struck nine terror infrastructures located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK). The operation was carried out as retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which had escalated tensions along the border.
Following India's strikes, Pakistan reportedly attempted to target Indian military installations, prompting further retaliatory actions from the Indian side.
“India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action,” Jaishankar stated in a post on social media.
Reiterating New Delhi’s position, Jaishankar added, “India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.”
This ceasefire marks a significant diplomatic step amid growing international attention on the India-Pakistan standoff and comes just days after both countries engaged in high-intensity military operations.
