India, Pakistan Ceasefire Worked Out Bilaterally, Say Government Sources

India, Pak worked out stopping of military action: Govt sources.webp

New Delhi, May 10 – The ceasefire between India and Pakistan was directly negotiated by the two nations without third-party mediation, government sources confirmed on Saturday, pushing back against claims of foreign intervention in the development.

The clarification followed a statement by US President Donald Trump earlier in the day, where he asserted that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire after talks reportedly mediated by the United States.

However, Indian government sources said that the cessation of hostilities was arrived at through direct engagement between the two countries.

“The stoppage of firing and military action between India and Pakistan was worked out directly between the two countries,” a senior government source stated.
According to the officials, the Pakistan Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) initiated a call on Saturday afternoon, which led to discussions and an eventual agreement on halting military actions.

The sources also clarified that no agreement has been reached to hold further discussions on any other issue at any other venue.

This development comes amid rising tensions and a recent escalation in cross-border hostilities. However, the announcement offers a temporary reprieve and signals a step back from the brink, albeit without any broader diplomatic roadmap in place.
