New Delhi, May 10 – Amid mounting tensions between India and Pakistan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday to provide an urgent update on the escalating military situation, according to official sources.

The meeting took place at the Defence Minister’s residence in New Delhi, where General Chauhan is understood to have briefed Singh on the developments along India’s western border.

The interaction followed a significant military provocation by Pakistan, which, according to Indian authorities, attempted to launch between 300 and 400 Turkish drones across 36 strategic locations, spanning from Leh to Sir Creek, in a failed bid to strike Indian military installations late Thursday night.

In a statement released on Saturday morning, the Indian Army condemned the aggression, declaring:

“Pakistan's blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our western borders.”
This series of drone attacks, reportedly repelled by Indian defence systems, marks a serious uptick in hostilities between the two nations, prompting heightened alert levels across critical border areas.

While no official casualty figures or damage reports have been made public, the scale and coordination of the attempted incursion reflect a sharp increase in operational risk and tension in the region. Authorities are closely monitoring the developments, with high-level strategic meetings continuing through the weekend.

India has yet to issue a formal diplomatic response, but defence and intelligence channels are reportedly on high alert.
