United Nations, Feb 4 (PTI) – India has reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations by paying USD 37.64 million towards the 2025 UN Regular Budget, securing its place on the "honour roll" of 35 member states that have fulfilled their financial obligations on time and in full.

According to the UN Committee on Contributions, as of January 31, 2025, these 35 nations have met their regular budget assessments within the 30-day due period outlined in UN financial regulations. India made its contribution on January 31, 2025, further solidifying its reputation for timely payments to the global body.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, speaking at the daily press briefing, acknowledged India’s contribution, stating, "We thank our friends in India."

India has consistently met its financial obligations to the UN, reflecting its commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation. UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang, ahead of his scheduled February 4-8 visit to India, also praised the country’s dedication. In an interview last week, he noted, "India continues to fulfill its obligation as a member state of the UN by paying its dues in full and on time."

This timely contribution underscores India’s role as a responsible member of the international community, reinforcing its support for the UN’s objectives and operations.
