February 12, New Delhi: In a groundbreaking initiative promoting ethical and human-centered Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, announced a nationwide campaign to set an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™ for the "Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours."
The campaign is part of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, a global platform hosted by MeitY under the IndiaAI Mission. Scheduled from February 16–20, 2026, in New Delhi, the summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will bring together global leaders, policymakers, researchers, industry experts, and innovators to discuss AI's transformative potential across three key pillars—People, Planet, and Progress.
Aligned with the summit's vision, IndiaAI, in collaboration with Intel India, will launch a 24-hour citizen-led 'AI Responsibility' pledge from February 16 (8 AM) to February 17 (8 AM) IST. Citizens nationwide are invited to commit to responsible, ethical, and human-centered use of AI. Participants will receive an honorary badge and access to government-led AI learning pathways, promoting awareness of AI literacy, data privacy, and responsible technology use.
The campaign targets students, educators, parents, government officials, workforce members, and the general public, emphasizing inclusive participation. Interested participants can visit aipledge.indiaai.gov.in, complete registration, and authenticate via email or phone.
Abhishek Singh, CEO of IndiaAI, urged partner organizations, affiliated institutions, and government departments to promote the pledge widely. "Strong ecosystem collaboration and coordinated engagement are critical to achieving this historic milestone for India in responsible and ethical AI adoption," he said.
This initiative marks one of the largest citizen-driven movements globally focused on promoting trustworthy AI, reinforcing public trust in emerging technologies, and showcasing India's commitment to ethical and inclusive digital innovation.
