No Attack on Alleged Nuclear Site, Confirms IAF Amid Operation Sindoor Briefing
New Delhi, May 12 — The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Monday categorically denied speculation circulating on social media that it had targeted Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, a location reportedly housing a nuclear facility.Addressing a media briefing on the recently conducted Operation Sindoor, Air Marshal AK Bharti, Director General of Air Operations, dismissed the claims as baseless.
“We have not hit Kirana Hills, whatever is there,” said Bharti, responding to questions about India’s alleged strike on a sensitive site during its counter-offensive against Pakistan.
The speculation gained traction online following India’s military strikes on a Pakistani airbase in Sargodha, which some reports claimed had links to an underground nuclear storage site in the nearby Kirana Hills region. However, the IAF made it clear that its targets did not include Kirana Hills.
The briefing was also attended by Director General of Military Operations Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai and Director General of Naval Operations Vice Admiral A N Pramod, providing a joint front to address strategic and security concerns in the aftermath of escalating tensions.
The clarification comes at a critical time, as both nations observe a fragile ceasefire after days of intense cross-border engagements. The IAF’s statement aims to dispel misinformation and maintain transparency on the scope and intent of India’s military operations.
