Amritsar, May 10 — In a major security action along the India-Pakistan border, the Indian Army's Air Defence (AAD) units successfully neutralised multiple Pakistani Kamikaze drones that crossed into Indian airspace in Punjab’s Amritsar early Saturday morning, according to defence sources.

The drones, identified as Byker YIHA III models, were launched around 5 am and were reportedly on a trajectory toward densely populated civilian zones. Swift action by India’s air defence systems ensured the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed within seconds of detection.

High-Explosive Payloads Aimed at Civilian Areas

Preliminary investigations revealed that the downed drones were carrying high-explosive payloads intended for mass harm. Defence officials have described this attempted strike as a "fresh low" in what they allege is Pakistan’s continued provocation through asymmetric warfare.

No Civilian Casualties or Damage

Thanks to the rapid deployment and activation of quick-reaction air defence guns positioned along the border, the threat was neutralised without any civilian injuries or property damage.

India’s Air Defence Efficiency on Display

The successful interception underscores the effectiveness of India’s multi-layered air defence network. The AAD’s systems integrate ground-based radars, electro-optical sensors, and automated command-control technologies to deliver real-time responses to aerial threats.

This incident again brings attention to rising tensions along the border and the critical role of technological vigilance in safeguarding civilian populations.
