Chandigarh, Feb 28: The Indian Army’s Western Command successfully conducted a large-scale military logistics exercise at the Chandimandir Military Station on Friday, showcasing its operational preparedness and coordination capabilities, according to an official statement.
The exercise was chaired by Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General N S Raja Subramani, who, in his inaugural speech, emphasized the need to modernize army logistics in alignment with the country's infrastructural advancements and the integration of emerging technologies.
Highlighting the evolving operational requirements, Subramani called for a revision of the logistics architecture to enhance efficiency and readiness. Senior military officials at the Director General level, responsible for different logistic verticals at Army Headquarters, presented insights on futuristic war logistics and briefed attendees on various ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing national-level logistics efficacy.
The exercise was specifically designed to assess and enhance the operational logistics chain, reinforcing the army’s preparedness to tackle dynamic challenges along the Western Front in various scenarios. Key elements of the drill included the rapid deployment of equipment, transportation of essential supplies, and synchronized communication across different commands overseeing the Western Theatre.
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, directed the proceedings, ensuring seamless coordination among multiple stakeholders responding to simulated real-time operational situations.
Addressing the participants, the Western Army Commander stressed the importance of integrating advanced infrastructure near border areas and leveraging cutting-edge warehousing and supply chain management technologies to strengthen the military’s logistical framework.
The participation of senior Western Front military officials underscored a collaborative approach towards emergency preparedness and resource allocation, reinforcing a transformative military logistics strategy for future operations.
