Indian Envoy Meets Chinese Vice Foreign Minister to Boost Bilateral Ties

Beijing, April 11 – Indian Ambassador to China, Pradeep Kumar Rawat, held discussions with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong on April 9, signaling continued efforts by both nations to strengthen diplomatic engagement and bilateral cooperation.

According to a press release issued by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on India-China relations and collaborative efforts across various sectors. Both sides reiterated their commitment to advancing the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, aiming to steer the relationship toward a “healthy and stable track.”

The diplomatic engagement comes as a positive step in the evolving India-China relations, which had experienced a prolonged freeze due to the military standoff in eastern Ladakh over the past four years. A turning point emerged after President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kazan, Russia, in October last year.

Since that pivotal interaction, the two countries have intensified high-level exchanges aimed at restoring normalcy and fostering cooperation. The latest meeting between Ambassador Rawat and Vice Minister Sun is viewed as part of this broader diplomatic push to rebuild trust and deepen engagement across political, economic, and cultural spheres.
