Ambassador Naveen Srivastava Offers Condolences, Reaffirms India's Stand Against Terrorism
Kathmandu, May 11 – India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, on Sunday paid a visit to the grieving family of Sudip Neupane, a Nepali national who was among the 26 victims killed in the April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, Ambassador Srivastava conveyed India’s deep condolences during his meeting with the Neupane family. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu shared images of the meeting on social media platform X, underlining the emotional outreach and diplomatic commitment.
“Ambassador Srivastava assured the family of India’s unwavering dedication to fighting terrorism and ensuring that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack are brought to justice,” the Embassy stated.
The visit comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following India's launch of Operation Sindoor, a counter-offensive that targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab. The precision strikes were a direct retaliation for the deadly attack in Pahalgam.
The military escalation prompted diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation. On Saturday, India and Pakistan reportedly reached an agreement to halt all military actions across land, air, and sea with immediate effect.
The Indian envoy’s visit to the Nepali victim’s family underscores New Delhi's regional commitment to supporting victims of terrorism and maintaining regional peace through strong diplomatic and military postures.
