New Delhi, February 27: Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), the Tata Group’s hospitality arm, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Goa, to establish a hospitality skilling center in the state. This initiative aims to enhance employment prospects for youth by equipping them with industry-specific skills.

According to an official statement from IHCL, the skilling center will offer specialized training programs and workshops tailored to meet the evolving demands of the hospitality sector. These courses will cover key areas such as front office management, housekeeping, food production, and food and beverage services, preparing participants for dynamic careers in the industry.

The center will also facilitate industry-based internships to provide practical exposure, enabling trainees to gain hands-on experience in corporate environments. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring participants are job-ready.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant lauded the collaboration, stating, "IHCL’s initiative will open new employment avenues for the youth, supporting Goa’s long-term vision for growth in the tourism sector. This MoU highlights our shared commitment to building a sustainable tourism ecosystem, and we are pleased to partner with IHCL."

IHCL Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal emphasized the company’s commitment to skill development under its ‘ESG+ framework of Paathya’. He stated, "The upcoming skilling center will address the employability gap and equip a skilled workforce to support Goa’s thriving travel and tourism industry."

Under its broader framework, IHCL has established 47 skilling centers across various locations, continuously investing in talent development to benefit aspiring youth and their families. This initiative aligns with IHCL’s long-term strategy to enhance employment opportunities while contributing to the expansion of the hospitality sector.
