New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – The Indian Navy's first-ever half-marathon in the national capital witnessed an overwhelming response on Sunday, drawing more than 10,000 participants across three race categories.
The flagship events—the 21.1 km and 10 km races—were flagged off by Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, with Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal A P Singh also in attendance. The event also featured a 5 km run, making it an inclusive race for enthusiasts of all fitness levels.
The marathon kicked off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with runners navigating a scenic route that passed through iconic landmarks such as India Gate and Kartavya Path.

The Navy, in an official statement, emphasized that the half-marathon was designed to promote health and fitness among participants from diverse backgrounds. Winners of the 21.1 km Race
In the Men’s 21.1 km category, Kulbir Singh clinched the top position, while Vrinda Bhandari emerged victorious among the women participants.With an enthusiastic turnout and a seamless execution, the Indian Navy’s maiden half-marathon has set the stage for a tradition that could grow in the years to come, further strengthening the nation’s commitment to fitness and community engagement.
