Sharjah, Feb 26 – The Indian senior women's football team concluded their Pink Ladies Cup campaign with a 0-3 defeat against Korea at the Al Hamriya Sports Club Stadium on Wednesday.

Ranked 20th in the FIFA standings, Korea dominated the game early, securing a 2-0 lead by halftime. Choi Yoojung opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a powerful free-kick, while Choi Dagyeong doubled the advantage in the 27th minute. Mun Eunju sealed the victory with a third goal in the 81st minute.

India, having started the tournament with a win against Jordan, suffered back-to-back losses to Russia and Korea. From the outset, the Korean side applied relentless pressure, pinning India deep in their own half. Despite the defensive efforts of Crispin Chettri’s squad, Korea's superior attacking prowess proved difficult to contain.

Indian goalkeeper Shreya Hooda put up a commendable performance, making several crucial saves, including a penalty stop in the 66th minute. However, Korea’s attacking force remained persistent, capitalizing on defensive lapses to extend their lead.

India struggled to create scoring opportunities, with their best effort coming from a long-range attempt by Lynda Kom in the first half, which was comfortably collected by the Korean goalkeeper. The team showed better organization after the break, attempting to utilize the wings for attacking plays, but Korea’s defense remained solid.

Despite their resilience, India was unable to break through, as Korea sealed their dominant display with a late goal. The result highlights the gap in experience and ranking, but India’s fighting spirit and defensive grit were notable takeaways from the contest.
