
February 15, New Delhi — A 22-year-old Indian student has been found dead in California, six days after he was reported missing on February 9.
In a social media post on X, the Consulate General of India in San Francisco stated that local police have confirmed the recovery of the student's body and have extended heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
The Consulate added that it is ready to provide all necessary assistance to the family, including coordinating with local authorities and arranging the repatriation of the remains to India at the earliest. It said consular officers are in direct contact with the family and will assist with all required formalities and services.
The deceased, Saketh Sreenivasaiah, was a postgraduate student at UC Berkeley and hailed from Karnataka. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was among six individuals who held a patent for inventing a "microchannel cooling system for hyperloop and a method thereof."
