Indian Woman Arrested at Sri Lanka's Airport with 1.2 kg of Kush Cannabis Smuggled from Thailand

Colombo, Feb 26: A 38-year-old Indian woman was apprehended at Sri Lanka's Bandaranaike International Airport for attempting to smuggle 1.2 kilograms of Kush cannabis from Thailand, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

According to the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs, the woman arrived in Colombo aboard Cathay Pacific Airlines flight CX 611 from Bangkok. The illicit substance, valued at approximately Sri Lankan Rupees (SLRs) 12 million (around INR 3.54 lakh), was discovered concealed inside food packets within her checked baggage, officials reported.

Following the seizure, the suspect and the contraband were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation. Law enforcement agencies in Sri Lanka continue to tighten security measures against drug trafficking through international routes.
