
Minister of State for Health, Anupriya Patel, has announced the launch of the Strategy for AI in Healthcare for India (SAHI), a national framework designed to promote responsible AI adoption across states, regulatory bodies, and private initiatives. Speaking at the roundtable on Innovation to Impact – AI as a Public Health Gamechanger in New Delhi, Ms. Patel stated that the SAHI initiative will be launched during the AI Impact Summit 2026 on Thursday.
The Minister reiterated India's commitment to responsible and inclusive AI adoption in healthcare. Emphasizing that for India, AI is not just Artificial Intelligence, but a comprehensive approach that drives equitable and trusted healthcare for a developed India, she echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. Ms. Patel added that today, India has integrated AI across the entire healthcare sector, from disease surveillance and prevention to diagnosis and treatment.
