Maini Aims Higher Following Career-Best Finish in 2024 Season
Meuspath, Germany (April 1, 2025) — Indian racing driver Arjun Maini is set to compete in his fifth consecutive year in the prestigious Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), joining forces once again with Haupt Racing Team (HRT), now partnered with Ford Performance.
Maini, the 27-year-old motorsport talent from Bengaluru, will pilot one of two Ford Mustang GT3 cars for HRT, marking Ford's highly anticipated return to the DTM series after an absence of 36 years. Fabio Scherer will join Maini as the second driver for the team's factory-supported effort.
Career Progression in DTM
The upcoming 2025 season is particularly promising for Maini, who delivered his strongest performance to date in the DTM series last year, finishing seventh overall in the drivers' standings. His previous three seasons had seen a steady progression, with Maini finishing 12th in 2021, 19th in 2022, and 20th in 2023.
Since joining HRT in 2022, Maini has been an integral part of the team's racing endeavors, achieving three podium finishes and securing one pole position in the competitive sprint racing series last season.
Upcoming Official Testing
Ahead of the season opener, teams and drivers will gather for the official DTM test day scheduled on Wednesday at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. This crucial pre-season test provides Maini and HRT with an opportunity to fine-tune their new Ford Mustang GT3 car ahead of the highly competitive season.
Season Opener Scheduled for April End
The DTM 2025 championship kicks off with its first race weekend from April 25 to 27. Fans and racing enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating this event, as it signals not only a fresh start for the championship but also Ford’s ambitious return to top-level German touring car racing.
To date, Maini has made a total of 64 appearances in the prestigious DTM sprint racing series, showcasing consistency and growth in his motorsport journey.
