Maharashtra CM Credits ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ for Military Growth

Mumbai, May 18 – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday lauded India’s rising global stature in defence, crediting self-reliant production models initiated in 2014 for the country’s military superiority.

Speaking at a 'Tiranga Yatra' event in Khaparkheda village, Nagpur district, Fadnavis highlighted that India now ranks among the top five global armed forces. “The world has accepted that we have the best defence capabilities. Our defence strength is five times greater than Pakistan’s,” he asserted.

Self-Reliance Driving Defence Prowess

Fadnavis linked India’s military growth to indigenous production initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, both launched by the Narendra Modi government. These programmes aim to promote the indigenous design, development, and manufacturing of defence equipment.

“What was once mocked is now globally respected. Today, countries around the world are placing defence orders with India. That reflects our rising stature and the success of our defence policies,” he said.

Cross-Border Strikes and Pakistan’s Ceasefire Plea

Fadnavis also referred to Pakistan’s recent admission about infrastructure damage from precision cross-border strikes. “When we acted, they came to their senses, requested a ceasefire, and bowed down. It’s a proud moment for the nation,” he said, describing it as evidence of India’s growing military dominance.

Criticism of Turkiye and Political Opponents

Issuing a strong rebuke to Turkiye for supporting Pakistan, Fadnavis commended Indian citizens for their “silent boycott” of nations that align with terrorism and crimes against humanity. “They now understand the strength of Indian citizens,” he stated.

He also condemned critics questioning the selection of Members of Parliament for diplomatic outreach post-'Operation Sindoor', calling such opposition “petty and negative.”

Attack on Congress Over ‘Jai Hind’ Rally

The chief minister accused the Congress of double standards, saying, “Rahul Gandhi questions our armed forces while the party hosts patriotic rallies. National interest should not be politicised.”

Fadnavis concluded by reaffirming that the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ was a show of unity and national pride, transcending political lines. “Every Indian stands with our jawans and Prime Minister Modi. This movement is for the nation, not any one party,” he emphasized.
