The Election Commission of India (ECI) is conducting extensive awareness campaigns on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) across states and union territories where elections are scheduled. The ECI stated that these campaigns are being held in the states of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal to familiarize voters with the operation of EVMs. The Commission emphasized that over 1.2 lakh electors participated in the EVM demonstration camps established at the headquarters of District Election Officers (DEOs) as well as at the offices of Returning Officers and Revenue Sub-Divisions in all these states and union territories. The ECI said that the goal of this campaign is to increase voter confidence by providing practical experience of the machines, clarifying any doubts about their operation, and ensuring transparency in the electoral process.
