Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal praised the 2026-27 Union Budget as a strong foundation for a "Developed India" by 2047. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai to discuss the budget with the media, Mr. Goyal described it as a plan based on economic growth, infrastructure expansion, and inclusive development for all citizens.

He further stated that a major focus on manufacturing, expanding exports, and creating a favorable environment for investors is a key priority for the government. He said that 12.21 lakh crore rupees have been allocated for infrastructure development, with the aim of reducing logistics costs and boosting the economy. He emphasized that the budget includes a 10,000 crore rupees fund for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), focusing on all citizens, including the poor, middle class, and youth.

Responding to questions about the establishment of large-scale data centers in the country, Mr. Goyal said that the government is promoting data centers powered by renewable energy to boost foreign exchange earnings through service exports. He further highlighted that Maharashtra stands to benefit significantly from increased investment, with substantial plans for railways and port-linked infrastructure, including new chemical and textile parks. Goyal emphasized that the 2026-27 budget strengthens India's position as the world's fastest-growing economy.
