India’s Message After Pahalgam Attack: Swift, Decisive, and Uncompromising Strikes Under Oper...webp

India Warns Global Powers of Its Resolute Stand Against Terrorism Post-Pahalgam Attack

New Delhi, May 11 — Following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, India launched a strong diplomatic and military offensive, making it clear to world capitals, including Washington, that it would respond to acts of terror from Pakistani soil with unwavering force, according to top government sources.

India's counter-response began with Operation Sindoor on May 7, a campaign marked by precision strikes on Pakistani military installations. Government sources confirmed that India conveyed to several countries that further provocation from Pakistan would result in increasingly decisive retaliation.

Modi's Stern Warning to US Amid Rising Tensions

During a crucial call on May 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed US Vice President JD Vance that India’s reply to any further Pakistani military aggression would be "more forceful, stronger, and devastating." This conversation took place amid an intensifying military standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

“In all our messages after April 22, we said we will hit the terrorists. There will be consequences. We were very, very clear from day one,” a senior source stated.

The Indian stance was unequivocal: “They fire, we fire. They stop, we stop.”

Pakistani Attacks Prompt Precision Counterstrikes

The turning point came when Pakistan attempted to hit 26 Indian targets, including key airbases in Udhampur, Pathankot, and Adampur during the night of May 9–10. In response, India unleashed a powerful counter-attack targeting critical Pakistani installations.

The Indian armed forces struck major sites such as Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian. Radar facilities at Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base were also hit with precision-guided munitions, resulting in significant damage.

According to sources, these coordinated strikes crippled key components of Pakistan’s military infrastructure, prompting Islamabad to call for a cessation of hostilities.

Ceasefire Initiated After Pakistani Outreach

Following India’s fierce retaliation on the morning of May 10, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) reached out to his Indian counterpart. This led to a mutual agreement to halt all military actions across land, air, and sea.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the understanding within hours of the DGMO-level conversation.

US Mediation Attempts and India's Clear Position

Amid the escalating tensions, Pakistan turned to the United States for diplomatic intervention. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio contacted External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and conveyed that Pakistan was open to accepting an off-ramp from the crisis.

Sources also noted that the first outreach between the US and India occurred shortly after the Pahalgam attack. US President Donald Trump called PM Modi while he was in Saudi Arabia to express solidarity.

India maintained a firm diplomatic stance throughout. “We clearly told our interlocutors that we cannot equate the victim and the perpetrator,” a source said, emphasizing that India would no longer tolerate any form of even-handedness when dealing with terrorism.

Operation Sindoor: A Message Beyond Borders

With Operation Sindoor, India signaled not just its willingness but its capacity to penetrate deep into Pakistani territory and dismantle terror networks. “No place is safe,” said a source, underlining the operation’s intent to warn terror outfits and their state sponsors.

This military and diplomatic campaign has underlined a significant policy shift in which India asserts its right to respond forcefully to protect its sovereignty, citizens, and territorial integrity.
