
GW, Minister Joshi Reports New Delhi – November 11, 2025 – India’s domestic solar module manufacturing capacity has now reached 144 Gigawatts (GW), according to Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, who responded to questions in the Lok Sabha today. Previously, annual solar power generation was limited to 6-7 GW, a significant increase allowing for potential export opportunities.
Mr. Joshi highlighted a substantial shift in the renewable energy landscape, noting that under the previous Congress-led government, approximately ₹856 crore was allocated for renewable energy development over a decade. In contrast, he stated that the current NDA government has invested over ₹1.27 lakh crore in renewable energy production over the past eleven years.
Funding for renewable energy infrastructure projects was also detailed, with ₹10,000 crore allocated under Green Energy Corridor Phase-I, providing support to states, and ₹12,000 crore allocated under Green Energy Corridor Phase-2.
