The government affirms that any future terror attack will be treated as an "act of war."

Bengaluru/Hubballi, May 11 — Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and Shobha Karandlaje on Sunday reiterated India’s firm commitment to national security, asserting that the government will treat any future terror attacks as acts of war, while defending the decision to agree to a ceasefire with Pakistan following intense retaliatory military strikes.

Addressing reporters in Hubballi, Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, stated that India’s strategic response—formulated in consultation with the armed forces—reflects a new era of defence and diplomacy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"India has its strength. Earlier, even after major terror attacks, our response was mild. But this time, on the very first day, our soldiers attacked about nine terror bases or launch pads in Pakistan. A large number of terrorists were killed," Joshi said, brushing aside criticism over the ceasefire agreement.

He emphasized that the Modi-led government had significantly curtailed the spread of terrorism, confining such incidents largely to border regions. Joshi also clarified that more information on the ceasefire understanding and diplomatic engagements would be shared by the Ministries of External Affairs and Defence.

In response to reports regarding US President Donald Trump's claims of mediation, Joshi indicated that military-level communication took place between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both India and Pakistan.

"Pakistan Must Learn a Lesson": Shobha Karandlaje

Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje, speaking in Bengaluru during a "Walk for the Nation" march, delivered a scathing criticism of Pakistan, accusing it of being a "haven for terrorism" and calling for global action against its repeated ceasefire violations.

Pakistan is exporting terrorists. Despite the ceasefire announcement, they tried to attack India again last night. But fearing our retaliation, they ran to the US and other countries pleading for a ceasefire," she stated.

Karandlaje highlighted India’s decisive response to the Pahalgam terror attack, claiming that nine terror bases were destroyed and hundreds of terrorists eliminated, including the brother and family members of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar.

She stressed that the Indian public, cutting across religious, caste, and political lines, stands united in support of the armed forces.

Pakistan has been troubling India for 78 years by sending terrorists to kill innocent civilians and soldiers. This must end. The people of India are with the Government. We are all standing in support of our soldiers," she concluded.

Ceasefire with Vigilance

While India has reached an understanding with Pakistan to halt all military actions, both ministers made it clear that the country will not hesitate to respond with full force should there be another provocation. The strong remarks underline India’s shift in policy, linking terrorism with open military response and treating cross-border attacks as acts of war.

The government’s message remains unequivocal: India will defend its sovereignty with strength and strategic resolve.
