Life-Saving Surgery Conducted at Government Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital
Indore, April 2 — In a remarkable medical feat, doctors at Indore’s Government Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital have successfully removed an enormous ovarian cyst weighing nearly eight kilograms from a 15-year-old girl, effectively saving her life. The girl had been experiencing persistent abdominal pain, difficulty in breathing, and general discomfort for some time. Upon medical examination, gynecologist Dr. Sumitra Yadav identified the presence of a large cyst in her ovary.
"A cyst is a closed, sac-like structure that can develop anywhere in the body and is filled with fluid, semi-solid material, or air," explained Dr. Yadav. "We were shocked to see the size of the cyst during the surgery. When it was taken out, it weighed about eight kilograms."
Complex Three-Hour Surgery Restores Teen’s Health
The surgical procedure lasted three hours. Prior to the operation, the girl’s total body weight was 39 kilograms — which included the massive cyst.Dr. Yadav confirmed that the girl's condition is now stable and she is recovering well. "If the cyst had not been removed, her life could have been in serious danger," she said.
Cyst Sample Sent for Cancer Screening
To ensure there are no underlying complications, a sample of the cyst has been sent for histopathological testing to determine whether it was cancerous. This successful surgery highlights the critical role of timely diagnosis and skilled medical intervention in managing rare and life-threatening health conditions.
