Industrial Strike in West Bengal Demands Labor Code Repeal.webp

Kolkata, February 11 A statewide industrial strike has been called on Thursday in West Bengal by a joint forum of central trade unions, who have announced a general strike across the country on the same day, demanding the repeal of the new labor code and other issues.

The trade unions, including CITU, AITUC, and UTUC, have also given the call of "save Bengal" in the state, which is heading for assembly elections.

The industrial strike is being supported by the Left Front and Leftist employee federations, a CPI(M) party official said.

The joint forum of central trade unions, which has called the industrial strike in West Bengal, ruled by the Trinamool Congress, said that public transportation has been excluded from the strike due to the ongoing state school board examinations.

A group of trade unions announced a nationwide strike on January 9 to express their "resistance to the anti-worker, anti-farmer, and anti-national pro-corporate policies of the central government."
