Bhopal, February 2 (PTI) – ‘Chhota Bheem,’ a tiger rescued in an injured state and brought to the MP Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Bhopal, has died due to heart failure, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The big cat, originally from the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Umaria district, was transferred to the facility located within Van Vihar National Park—a combination of a rescue center and a zoo—on November 30 for medical treatment.
A post-mortem report revealed that congestive heart failure was the cause of death, an official statement said. Authorities ensured that the disposal of the carcass followed the guidelines set by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
The loss of Chhota Bheem marks another setback in wildlife conservation efforts, underscoring the challenges in rehabilitating injured big cats.
