Jammu, March 1: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra on Saturday reaffirmed that the Congress party remains open to individuals who wish to contribute to the political discourse and development of the Union Territory.
Speaking at a party function in Jammu, Karra emphasized Congress’s commitment to empowering the people and ensuring equitable development in the region.
"Those who aspire to be part of constructive politics and development in Jammu and Kashmir are welcome to join Congress. The party stands as a platform for those who wish to contribute towards lifting the region out of the current challenges," Karra stated.
The event was marked by the induction of several former panches and sarpanches from Rajouri, including BJP General Secretary Shazia Tabassum Choudhary and ex-servicemen Rajesh Sharma and Neeraj Singh, who joined Congress at its headquarters.
Reiterating the party’s pro-people stance, Karra criticized the BJP-led government, calling it “anti-poor, anti-youth, and anti-farmers.” He alleged that due to the government's "wrong policies," the hardships of the people had escalated.
"Unemployment has surged, inflation has skyrocketed, and developmental activities have come to a standstill due to the insensitivity of the present regime," he claimed.
Karra further highlighted that Congress has historically been an instrument of service to the people, implementing policies that uplift marginalized communities and those residing in remote areas.
"Congress is duty-bound to address the aspirations of the people and has consistently pioneered revolutionary programs aimed at improving their living conditions," he asserted.
The new entrants expressed enthusiasm about joining Congress and vowed to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Congress Aims to Rebuild Political Engagement
With an open-door policy, Congress aims to attract more individuals committed to the development of Jammu and Kashmir. As the political landscape in the Union Territory evolves, the party positions itself as a key player in addressing the concerns of the people.
