Srinagar, February 13 Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to clarify the claim made by a Kashmiri Pandit leader that a demographic change is being made in the Valley.
BJP leader Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo had recently told a national daily that the Centre was working on changing Kashmir's demography by settling lakhs of Hindus from outside there.
"Forty townships in Kashmir to decongest cities? This sounds progressive until the BJP voices call it a demographic plan for Hindu settlement. Is this a coincidence? Or is it a deliberate state-engineered move? The Jammu and Kashmir government must clarify before it is too late. The Valley's demographic plan, as cited by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, should be heard from the BJP," Mehbooba wrote in a post on X.
