Jammu, Feb 2 (PTI) – The 32nd International Conference of the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPCON 25) concluded in Jammu on Sunday, marking a historic milestone in the field of palliative care in India. With over 800 delegates, including doctors, paramedics, and volunteers from around the world, the three-day event was one of the largest healthcare gatherings ever held in Jammu and Kashmir.
Organized by the J&K chapter of the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) in collaboration with AIIMS Jammu, the conference served as a crucial platform for global experts to exchange ideas, discuss advancements, and explore future collaborations in palliative care.
“The conference has left a lasting impact on the landscape of palliative care in India, particularly in J&K,” said Dr. Rohit Lahori, President of the J&K chapter of IAPC. “This was the first time an event of this magnitude was held in the region, with participation from 50 international faculty members representing 20 countries.”
The event also recognized excellence in the field by awarding gold medals to the best-performing doctors and paramedics.
“IAPCON 25 has set the stage for a new era in palliative care in India, reinforcing the importance of research-driven approaches and international collaboration,” Dr. Lahori emphasized. “It has also underscored the need for policy reforms and advocacy efforts to strengthen palliative care services nationwide.”
