J-K LG, CM condemn terror attack in Kulgam, say perpetrators will be punished soon

Jammu, Feb 3 (PTI) – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have strongly condemned the brutal terrorist attack on an ex-serviceman and his family in the Kulgam district of south Kashmir.

According to officials, the attack occurred on Monday in Behibagh village, where terrorists opened fire on ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, killing him on the spot. His wife and cousin sustained serious gunshot injuries and were immediately rushed for medical treatment.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha paid homage to Wagay, expressing deep sorrow over the incident. "I strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on Manzoor Ahmad Wagay and his family in Kulgam. The entire nation stands in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief," he stated.

Emphasizing that those responsible for this cowardly act would face justice, Sinha assured that all necessary medical aid would be provided to the injured. "I have instructed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured. Praying for their speedy recovery. The perpetrators of this attack will be punished soon," he affirmed.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed profound grief over the incident, condemning the attack in the strongest terms. "I am deeply saddened by the tragic killing of ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay Sahab in Kulgam. My heartfelt condolences to his family and prayers for the swift recovery of his injured wife and daughter," Abdullah said.

Denouncing the violence, the CM stressed that such acts have no place in society and must be met with strict condemnation. "May peace and justice prevail," he added.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the region, with security forces intensifying their efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.
